Exhibition and Submission FAQs
Can I submit if I am outside Australia?
We cannot accept submissions from outside Australia. International shipping and returns have proven too difficult within the short exhibition timeframe.
Can I submit work that has been exhibited elsewhere?
Yes, provided the work is available for the exhibition dates and can be delivered by the required deadline.
Can I submit old work?
Yes. We will accept recent work, created from January 2024 onwards.
Does the submitted image need to be of the finished piece?
Yes. Submissions must include an image of the completed work. Concept drawings, mock-ups, or works in progress will not be accepted.
Can I submit a series as one work?
Yes, you may submit a series (e.g. a stack of rings) as a single entry. However, it must be sold as one set and not as individual pieces.
If one work is selected will all my entries be accepted?
Not necessarily. The selection panel may choose one, two, or all three of your submitted works at their discretion.
Can I update my submission after applying?
It is not possible to update your submission once you have applied.
Can I submit a late entry?
It is not possible to submit a late entry. The selection process has a short turn around so we cannot accept any late entries.
Does my work have to be for sale?
Yes, all exhibited works must be available for sale.
Do I need to pay for postage if my work is selected?
Yes. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and for ensuring the safe delivery and return of their work to and from Studio Melt.
Can I hand-deliver my work?
Yes. You may hand-deliver your work to Studio Melt in Newcastle during the specified delivery dates.
What if my work doesn't arrive on time?
Works that arrive after the deadline may not be included in the exhibition. We will contact you if your work has not arrived as expected, so please ensure your shipment includes tracking.
Can I withdraw my work after being accepted?
Yes. However, if you are considering withdrawing your work, please get in touch with us immediately. Letting us know as soon as possible may allow us to offer the space to another artist.
