Robin Wells
Robin Wells finds constant inspiration in the unique foliage and flowers of the native plants surrounding her Perth studio, which looks out onto a garden planted with endangered endemic species.
Growing up in a rural area close to bushland, the desire to use plant motifs has long been ingrained in her artistic practice. Robin makes jewellery that reminds the wearer of the importance of connecting with nature and the fragility of our biodiversity.
Robin creates individual templates to emboss the surface of her jewellery, building up layered patterns that evoke the feel of a fossilised plant record. A signature feature of her work is the beautiful contrast of warm 24ct gold paired with silver, alongside colourful gemstones and elegant gemstone drops.
Robin holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts in Jewellery, Metalsmithing and 3D Design from Curtin University of Technology, and a Diploma in Gemmology.
