Rusty Thought is a jewellery brand by Japanese designers and metalsmiths Ryo and Yuko Katori, based near Tokyo. Their jewellery combines traditional techniques, antique influences and the beauty of surfaces transformed by time.

Rusty Thought started as a men’s jewellery brand, with the first collection featuring unique black and gold pieces that adapted traditional techniques, with gold inlay applied to iron and finished with iron glaze. A women’s collection was later released alongside the existing men’s and unisex collections, with Yuko Katori involved in direction and design.

The brand name Rusty Thought was chosen for the unique texture that develops over time. Ryo and Yuko Katori create jewellery by hand with the hope that people will enjoy the changes that occur over time, and that it will be cherished and passed down through generations. Like the character that develops with age, jewellery becomes more meaningful over time.
