Blue Chalcedony & Dumotierite Earrings - Ari Athans

A layered composition of deep blue dumortierite, silver and faceted blue chalcedony creates a pair of richly coloured drop earrings with a playful balance of shape and texture.

Handmade by Ari Athans in Brisbane, whose work explores unexpected combinations of material, colour and form.

Suspended from sterling silver hooks, each earring brings together a cylindrical dumortierite bead, a smooth oval silver element and two faceted blue chalcedony drops. Contrasting shapes and surfaces give the earrings a sculptural rhythm, while the shifting shades of blue draw the different elements together. Generous in length without feeling heavy in appearance, they bring colour, movement and a little unexpected geometry to the ear.
