Double Periwinkle Pearl Necklace - Katheryn Leopoldseder
A sterling silver necklace featuring nested periwinkle shell forms with a freshwater pearl.
Handmade by Katheryn Leopoldseder in Melbourne, whose work explores personal adornment through sculptural forms and meticulous craftsmanship.
Crafted in matte-finished and oxidised sterling silver, the pendant is inspired by the distinctive spiral form of the common periwinkle shell, recalling childhood days spent collecting shells along the shoreline. A white freshwater pearl nestles within the oxidised silver form, which is in turn cradled by a larger matte silver periwinkle, creating a balanced composition of contrasting finishes and natural lustre. The layered design reflects Katheryn's exploration of balance and contrast through sculptural form.
Suspended from a sterling silver snake chain, it sits comfortably at the neckline as a sculptural everyday pendant.
