Each week unfolds as a rich tapestry of moments. The day begins with a familiar rhythm: waking before the sun, preparing school lunches, and stealing a quiet moment for myself. The true start, however, is that first, perfect sip of coffee—a daily ritual that makes my taste buds sing with delight.
The morning can be a flurry of school drop-offs and traffic, a race against the clock. Yet, I find pure joy in the deep belly laughs with my work bestie that leave my sides aching. These are the connections that truly brighten our days.
The afternoon brings another whirlwind. School pick-up, hungry children, and the familiar dance of dinner and bedtime routines. But it's in these moments that my heart fills to the brim. A warm snuggle and a deep, meaningful chat with my daughter, or the pride of listening to my youngest read, fills my heart with joy and love.
I've learned that life isn't about the grey but about the brilliant flashes of colour that glint amidst the daily routine. These moments sustain and inspire me, twinkling like precious stones. I now seek them everywhere, collecting these treasures that weave themselves into the work I create.

Romy Mittelman is a Melbourne-based jeweller who began her practice in Rome, Italy. She returned to her home in Melbourne where she studied gold and silversmithing at the Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE (NMIT, now Melbourne Polytechnic) and RMIT (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology).
