A irregular, sculptural sterling silver fusilage chain is threaded amongst a continuous strand of matte hematite beads, creating a striking interplay of dark, velvety tones and bright silver.

Handmade by Ari Athans in Brisbane, whose work explores unexpected combinations of material, colour and form.

Crafted in sterling silver and hematite, the necklace pairs an irregularly shaped silver chain with a strand of closely spaced 4 mm beads. The hematite’s matte finish gives the necklace a soft graphite-grey depth, while the contrasting silver fusilage introduces an unexpected sculptural interruption to the repetition of the beads. Bold yet pared back, the design allows the contrast between material, surface and form to take centre stage.
