Melt & Fuse Silver Studs - Virginia Sprague

Based in Bangkok, Virginia Sprague is an Australian maker of contemporary art jewellery exploring our entangled relationship with the environments we inhabit. Her work follows an iterative, material led process, allowing form to emerge through close engagement with place.
Using traditional metalsmithing techniques, she creates pieces that sit between the natural and the constructed, the emotional and the abstract. This tension reflects environmental vulnerability, material value, and the fragile systems that shape our world. Materials are chosen for their physical qualities and the narratives they carry, challenging conventional notions of preciousness, permanence, and beauty.
Her work considers adornment as an intimate form of storytelling, where ideas of place and connection are articulated through the body as both witness and participant. Virginia has exhibited her work in Australia and internationally.

These earrings have multiple handmade components that are separately melted then pressed while still molten to create texture.
