Pearl Circle Earrings - Ambroise Degenève
A pair of contemporary earrings that combine organic form with a bold, tactile sensibility.
Handmade by Ambroise Degenève, a contemporary jeweller based in Paris whose work combines historical jewellery references with experimental techniques, often pairing stones and cultured pearls with electroformed metal.
These earrings are made using an experimental process that brings together cultured freshwater pearls and patinated copper. Metal is built up around the pearl through electroforming, resulting in a richly textured surface with natural variation. In a sharp departure from typical pearl presentation, the artist slices through the pearls, exposing the growth rings. Each piece carries visible traces of the making process, giving the form depth and character.
On the ear, they sit with a gentle weight and an easy sense of balance, moving subtly as they’re worn. Their scale allows them to function as a statement while remaining comfortable and wearable.
Part of the artist’s ongoing series exploring material contrast and surface treatment in contemporary jewellery.
