Tara Lofhelm

Tara Lofhelm's jewellery explores the repetition of line, texture and contrast through primitive processes such as stamping and embellishment. Her shapes form as a reaction to the making process, every strike of her hammer ensuring a unique outcome that illustrates the hand of the maker. Constantly shifting and evolving, her pieces are meticulously crafted with a focus on bold design and wearability.

Inspired by ancient civilisations, Tara aims to modernise time-honoured jewellery techniques and, in doing so, create cultural artefacts that preserve today's definitive moment. Reflecting on archaeological relics and mythological symbols, her jewellery traverses time and place, drawing on diverse references including mysticism, tribal scarification, paganistic belief systems and cosmology.

Tara holds a Bachelor of Creative Arts and an Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology (Jewellery). From her studio in Naarm/Melbourne, she creates commercial ranges, private commissions and exhibition works.
