Cockle Shell Earrings - Catherine White

Sale price$465

Sterling silver earrings featuring hand-engraved cockle shell forms suspended beneath slender silver bars.

Handmade by Catherine White in Lake Macquarie, New South Wales, whose work draws on patterns and textures found in the natural environment to create sculptural silver jewellery.

Crafted in sterling silver, the cockle shell forms are engraved by hand with fine linear markings that reference the natural ridges of the shell. A small 4 mm freshwater pearl is set against each silver form, introducing a soft point of contrast within the composition. The elongated silver bar creates length through the earring, while the articulated connection allows the lower forms to move gently below.

Extended in scale, they sit lightly below the ear, with the combination of line, texture and pearl bringing balance to the sculptural form.
