Nested Periwinkle Pearl Earrings - Katheryn Leopoldseder
Sterling silver earrings featuring nested periwinkle shell forms with grey freshwater pearls.
Handmade by Katheryn Leopoldseder in Melbourne, whose work explores personal adornment through sculptural forms and meticulous craftsmanship.
Crafted in matte-finished and oxidised sterling silver, the earrings are inspired by the distinctive spiral form of the common periwinkle shell, recalling childhood days spent collecting shells along the shoreline. A grey freshwater pearl nestles within the matte silver form, which is in turn cradled by a larger oxidised silver periwinkle, creating a balanced composition of contrasting finishes and soft natural lustre.
Suspended from sterling silver ear wires, the layered forms create gentle movement while maintaining a light, balanced profile.
