Pearl Drop Earrings - Ambroise Degenève
A pair of sculptural earrings where the raw simplicity of freshwater pearl is paired with rugged metalwork for a striking presence.
Handmade by Ambroise Degenève, a contemporary jeweller based in Paris whose work combines historical jewellery references with experimental techniques, often pairing stones and cultured pearls with electroformed metal.
These earrings are shaped through an experimental process that fuses cultured freshwater pearls with patinated copper, suspended from 18 ct gold ear wires - a technique rooted in the artist’s ongoing exploration of hybrid forms and material alchemy. In a sharp departure from typical pearl presentation, the artist slices through the pearls, exposing the growth rings. Each earring captures subtle surface nuances and a juxtaposition of organic softness against textured metal, a hallmark of Degenève’s thoughtful approach to contemporary jewellery.
Part of a considered series of electroformed works by the artist - each pair reflects his ongoing dialogue between chance, surface, and form.
