Silver Etched Mountain Ring - Ash Hilton

A tiny mountain landscape stretches around this broad sterling silver band, its darkened lines standing out against the softly textured surface of the metal.

Handmade by Ash Hilton in New Zealand, whose material-led approach brings together ethical sourcing, understated design and the individual character of making by hand.

The mountain scene is carved directly into the silver using a tiny chisel, then blackened to bring out the ridgelines, slopes and small clusters of trees. The simplicity of the 7 mm band gives the miniature landscape plenty of room to unfold, while the hand-worked surface and slight variations in the carving make the process of its making part of the piece.
