Wattle Carnelian Drop Earrings - Robin Wells

Glowing carnelian drops hang beneath embossed wattle blossoms in fine silver and 24ct gold, bringing together warm colour and delicate botanical detail.

Handmade by Robin Wells in Perth, whose jewellery explores the beauty and fragility of Australian native flora through finely detailed, contemporary forms.

The oval silver elements are overlaid with 24ct gold using the traditional Korean technique of keum-boo, then embossed with clusters of tiny wattle blossoms across their surface. Suspended below, elongated teardrop-shaped carnelian cabochons bring a rich, translucent orange-red to the composition. The warmth of the stone and gold plays beautifully against the cooler fine silver, while the contrast between the intricate wattle texture and smooth polished carnelian gives the earrings plenty of visual interest and movement.
